“I want to bring the outdoors in”, My client said as we looked at her bedroom together. Looking at this canvas in front of us, our goal was to create an entirely new vision for the room. With pieces of furniture and art gathered from different seasons in her life, it was time to make her space her own. We stood there together and we honed in what design styles and colors make her heart home. Walking through the purposes that this room needs to serve we also were sure to focus in on ways to better make this room serve her. As I learned more about this client I quickly came to learn that her personal style can be described as Serena & Lily meets Restoration Hardware. What that means to me is she is comfortable with warm tones and metals, while also being drawn to soft and traditional pieces. For this specific project we will be working around some ‘industrial’ pieces she plans to keep that include black frames and warm wood tones. So where do you come in with all of this? 

As I was working on this first proposal for her I couldn’t help but think that coast to coast, this design is one that many of you would identify with! Want to know what else makes this room idyllic? We agreed to fall in a low/midrange budget and shop at the leading home decor stores that are easy to shop from, which means they’d be easy for you to shop from too! So let’s talk about this design! 

Wall Color: This design would work very well in rooms with white, soft yellow, beige, or sage paint colors

Color Palette: Woodlands green, beige, ivory, black stone and ‘greige’ are the focus for this room. Minimal white details should be used. 

Textures: Texture is important in this room to mimic the natural elements of nature. The ruffle in the bedding reminded me of tree bark, the base of the lamp resembles stone and in many ways the texture of the curtain reminded me of a backdrop of leaves. Avoid using all entirely smooth surfaces/materials. 

Art: The artwork is truly what brings this whole design together. Art can be costly, which led me to find this beautiful piece from Amazon. Pottery barn has stunning pieces that represent more of a woodlands theme but start at $300+ 

Additional Accents: Looking to expand on this design? A black stone vanity tray would be beautiful on the console table, a hanging viney plant from the ceiling, small ferns on the top of the end tables, candles with a stone vessel i.e
