A few months ago we went to an incredible tapas restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. It was one of our best decisions of the year! As one incredible dish came out after another, the sweet & spicy chorizo came out and we quickly determined that one plate of it just wasn’t going to be enough. There was something about the thinly sliced chorizo with a little heat mixed with a little sweet that just made us stop and savor every bite. Who am I kidding, we savored it but it wasn’t slowly, ha! I knew that I had to recreate the recipe for a few reasons, but the main one being so I didn’t have to drive 45 minutes to pick this up every time I wanted it!

When we were talking with our friends at Les Trois Petits Cochons, we wanted to create an appetizer that can be used for the upcoming holidays but also can be enjoyed year round! We take food VERY seriously and with that would never recommend a product to you that we aren’t in love with ourselves. Their charcuterie items in general are the highest quality we’ve experienced. The chorizo though, it stole my heart! I knew that this was the item I needed to use, which brings this whole story full circle!

If you’ve been around here for any length of time you know that our goal is to help you make food that everyone at the table can eat! This recipe is not only gluten and dairy free, but also grain free and paleo! I hope those words don’t make you run because what we’ve created is one dish that everyone at your table will crave. Whipped Pumpkin Pie Goat Cheese Crisps

There are few things more comforting than a cup of chai. Every time I drink it, it feels like a hug in a cup. Anyone else with me? Drinking chai in the fall, well that is next level comfort! One of the most wonderful aspects of chai is the highlight of the cinnamon flavor. When we were in the process of developing this recipe, we knew that we had to use a crust that highlighted just that.

We were thrilled to be able to partner with Maine Crisp on this recipe because their crunchy, sweet, and nutty gluten free crisps were exactly what we needed to capture that flavor. What we love most about their crisps is how intentionally they were created using only the best ingredients for health and decadence. We knew that every ingredient in this recipe had to reflect just that.

When I took my first bite of this recipe, I thought one thing, “Wow, no one would know this was SO healthy!” Personally, I would serve this to guests of ALL dietary needs without hesitation. The beauty of it though, is that even though everyone will love it, it considers the dietary needs around your table that can sometimes be difficult to capture.

Our hope is that this recipe becomes a staple in your home. One that not only celebrates and promotes health, but also helps fill your tables with memories!

*Important dietary note: while this recipe is almost entirely dairy free, Maine Crisp crackers do include trace amount of milk powder. If you are allergic to dairy, you can replace this ingredient with your favorite cinnamon cracker or graham cracker.

In our modern day gatherings we face many dietary restrictions, however, one of the best ways to make guests feel welcome and known at our table is by cooking items that ALL can eat. We know that typically, special diet foods get a bad rep and that it can be overwhelming which lead us to make a change! What we aspire to do is to make flavorful, true-to-original recipes that all will WANT to eat as well.
